Looking out to the horizon, he notices a shot of color at the water's surface. He wakes Mei-Lei to ask her what he is seeing. Together they take a barge and set off. Under them, a rainbow of colors is dancing in the waves. Moko and Mei-Lei think that the fish must be organizing a party and decide to dive in. Bit by bit the sun is rising and day is breaking. The two friends return to the village, overjoyed at the wonders of the ocean.

He goes to the mountain and finds a woman tending a huge fire. Thousands of sparks fly out of the fire and rise, twinkling, into the sky. He thinks he has discovered the secret of the star sprinkler.

The warm weather has returned, the trees have flowered and food is plentiful. Moko thinks now the cold has passed life here will be easy. An old man tells him that the cold will return, but Moko doesn't want to believe him and lets time pass. He sees the beauty of the changing seasons and one morning...winter!

In this episode, as a storm approaches, Moko wants to seek shelter beneath a tree on a hill. An old man warns him against staying there, and tells him to return to the village because the tree might suddenly catch fire. On his way, the tree is hit by lightning and bursts into flames. Moko is frightened by the thunderstorm. He thinks that a man who is able to predict such a thing must be a great wizard.

During the dry season, the river level drops and the remaining water turns to mud. He can't swim or drink the water. A man with a strange stick points the stick to the ground, and when Moko digs down there, water gushes out! Moko learns that even if no rain falls, Mother Earth could still be generous if you know the right way to ask her.

In this episode, Moko thinks that somewhere lies a creature that blows so hard that it makes the boughs of trees quiver and creates the desert dunes. He believes that the clouds flee before the wind comes because they are afraid of the creature. He decides to go look for it. Tired after walking beneath the hot sun, a fresh, light breeze makes his rest more pleasant. However, the creature is actually the Harmattan blowing over West Africa.

In this episode, dawn is breaking in the village, Moko and Mei-Lei are sound asleep. The earth begins to rumble, and an earthquake suddenly wakes them. Mei-Lei is so afraid she is shaking and Moko asks her to sing. As she sings, the ground slowly stops shaking. Moko and Mei-Lei head back to the village thinking that the ground must sleep so soundly that every so often it is woken up by the song of people wandering along its back.

In this episode, one morning, Alarick and Moko head into the sea to go fishing. They take a small boat and anchor in the shadow of a great boulder of ice to protect them from the wind. When they wake up they don't recognize their surroundings. The iceberg is drifting along the waves and is dragging their boat along with it. Moko is confident the ocean is showing them where there will be more fish for them to bring back to the village.

In this episode, intrigued by the name given to the mountains, "the hills of the round earth," Moko sets off to find out if the earth is really round. An old man tells him if he keeps walking straight, he could travel round the earth and get back to his starting point. Moko follows his advice but since he never got the feeling he was walking around a sphere, he still thinks the earth is flat.

In this episode, soaring over the desert, Moko and Totemie finally see the blue expanse of the ocean. Then a string of tiny islands covered in green and white. Fascinated by the view, they don't notice the wind picking up. As the wind gets stronger it shakes their kite and Totemie lets go, and Moko lets go as well so she won't fall alone. They fall into the water in a beautiful lagoon which they discover together, their courage rewarded.

In this episode, having made their way beyond the great valley, Moko and Totemie discover a blanket of white stretching out in front of them. An old man tells them that once they get to the other side they will see what so many others have dreamt of seeing, but that they must fly like birds. He offers them a strange kite. As the wind picks up, they hang on tight and fly off from the salt pan.

As promised, he gives Mei Li's stone and Alarick's flute. She in turn gives him a present that he may only open when he arrives at his destination. One morning, he sees the coast of his land after battling through a tornado! When he gets to shore, he opens Totemie's gift and finds not only her bracelet, but also Mei-Lei's stone and Alarick's flute and realizes that the greatest gift has been meeting his new friends.

Suddenly, they hear a strange sound coming from behind the mountain that resonates throughout the village. The two friends go off to find the source of this strange sound and what they see surprises them. Two men are blowing into what look like long horns while others walk along with them and sing. They head back towards their village, confident that they have solved the mystery of the echo.

In this episode, Moko crosses the plains of Siberia and gets his first taste of the cold. After having found shelter in a cave for the night, he wakes to find a carpet of snow stretching out over the landscape as far as his eyes can see. Amazed at first, Moko realizes that he can no longer see his path and find his way. Could he have found the end of the world where distracted travelers get lost? At which point he notices footprints leading to a village.

In this episode, Moko is enjoying the seashore on the beach when Mei-Lei comes to get him to go fishing. They sail out into the sea and in the distance Moko sees what looks like a hill. Mei-Lei tells him that is actually a giant wave! All of a sudden, the tsunami lifts their boat high into the air and propels it forward. The wave crashes down and drops their boat right at the entrance to the village. Moko believes that they were kept safe because he knew to trust the ocean.

In this episode, Moko and Mei-Lei suddenly hear a continuous sound coming from beyond the beach. As they approach the hills, the sound gets louder and Mei-Lei is more frightened, so Moko decides to go around the dune on his own. As he does so, the sound changes and becomes more of a song. Moko returns and tells Mei-Lei that it is the sand and the ground singing together. Moko thinks that the magical dune is urging him to go on with his travels and he knows that this is likely his last day in the village.

In this episode, the storm has passed and Moko's raft is approaching a new shore. He has never seen this white sand beach and wonders where he might be. Moko wanders off to find inhabitants of this new place. Along his route he passes plants with enormous leaves and at the other end of his path, the beach once again! How is this possible? What is the secret of this strange islandy? Night falls and Moko falls asleep convinced that he is the first traveler to discover the ocean's secret island.

Alarick, wanting to comfort him and make him feel welcome, offers to show him a great show in the sky. Moko, who thought he had seen all of the wonders the sky had to offer in his country, sees his first northern lights. Amazed, he thinks that in this country the sky can soothe a saddened heart and that Alarick, child of the cold, has proven to be a warm and welcoming friend.

He thinks that all of the people from this country must be giants because the trees in the forest he comes across are enormous. He climbs the tallest tree he can find and looks out towards the landscape and sees that the trees stretch out as far as the eye can see. Moko wonders if this is what the end of the world looks like. He feels quite alone and makes a wish to the stars to put a new friend on his path.

He decided to row as far as he could toward the horizon to catch the sun or reach the end of the earth! But night fell and Moko, in the middle of the ocean, began to get scared. Moko closed his eyes in fear and waited. After a while, he opened his eyes and looked around him. He had landed on a cape and felt hope that he finally knew what lay beyond the ocean.
